For almost a century, the folks at Dr. Scholl's® have been providing foot care and comfort to millions.
It all started with the vision of a young medical student who refused to believe the widespread assumption that shoes were expected to hurt when you wore them, and that foot discomfort was just a necessary evil. This student would someday become known to the world over as Dr. Scholl's®.
1882 William Mathias Scholl is born
1900 Scholl enrolls in Illinois Medical School
1903 Scholl invents his first product, the "Foot Eazer"
1904 Scholl graduates from medical school to become Dr. Scholl
1906 Scholl forms his own business
1909 Scholl starts a correspondence course for shoe fitters
1910 Brother F.J. Scholl joins the ranks
1911 Dr. Scholl's® registers as a business in London
1918 The first corn-pad, "Zino® -Pad," is invented
1928 Dr. Scholl opens his first American retail shop

1952 The famous blue and yellow Dr. Scholl's® showcase appears
1960 100,000 square-foot addition is added to the headquarters in Chicago, increasing facilities by 30 per cent
1968 Dr. Scholl's® exercise sandals hit the shelves
1971 Dr. Scholl's® becomes a public company
1972 One million sandals sold in the United States

1996 Dr. Scholl's® introduces gel insoles

2000 Dr. Scholl's® expands into the online world, launching The Scholls Institute™ web site, dedicated to providing easily accessible foot health information and solutions.
2001 Dr. Scholl's® launches StepWell Insoles (designed for arthritis and diabetes sufferers).
2002 Dr. Scholl's® Advantage® Powerwalk™ Insoles are introduced to provide ultimate walking comfort.
2003 Dr. Scholl's® Tri-Comfort® Orthotics and Dr. Scholl's Advantage® Comfort Insoles are introduced.
2004 Dr. Scholl's® Massaging Touch® Insoles are introduced.
2005 Dr. Scholl's® Memory Fit® Customizing Insoles, Dr. Scholl's® Memory Fit® Work™ Customizing Insoles, Dr. Scholl's® Sport Replacement Insoles, Dr. Scholl's® For Her™ Open Shoe® Insoles are introduced.
2006 Dr. Scholl's® Heel Pain Relief Orthotics introduced. Expanded For Her™ line to include For Her™ Comfort Insoles and For Her™ Ball of Foot Cushions.
2007 Dr. Scholl's® launches For Her™ Sole Expressions®, For Her™ Heel Liner and other grooming products. Back Pain Relief Orthotics and Arch Pain Relief Orthotics introduced. Launch of improved Massaging Gel™ Insoles, which delivers superior comfort.
