While the causes vary, there are two kinds of pain in the hip:<\/p>\r\n<ul class=\"listPara-blue\">\r\n<li><strong>Pain in the hip joint itself<\/strong>, which usually shows up on the inside of your hip or groin<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Pain in the muscles, ligaments, tendons, etc. attached to the hip<\/strong>, which you might feel in the outside of your hip, upper thigh or outer buttock<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][\/vc_section][vc_section el_id=&#8221;what-causes-it&#8221; el_class=&#8221;mt-4&#8243;][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/12&#8243;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;5\/6&#8243;][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;WHAT CAUSES HIP PAIN?&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h2|text_align:center&#8221; use_theme_fonts=&#8221;yes&#8221; el_class=&#8221;text-uppercase&#8221;][vc_column_text]\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">As with other kinds of pain, hip pain can happen from simply overusing or overexerting yourself. There can also be more serious causes of hip pain, such as injury, osteoarthritis, tendinitis, bursitis, and sciatica, among others. For injuries or these other conditions, talk to your doctor for a diagnosis and to develop a treatment plan that&#8217;s right for you.<\/p>\r\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/12&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][\/vc_section][vc_row full_width=&#8221;stretch_row&#8221; el_class=&#8221;my-5&#8243;][vc_column][vc_separator][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_section el_class=&#8221;mt-5&#8243; el_id=&#8221;what-can-i-do&#8221;][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/12&#8243;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;5\/6&#8243;][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;DON\u2019T LET HIP PAIN SLOW YOU DOWN&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h2|text_align:center&#8221; use_theme_fonts=&#8221;yes&#8221; el_class=&#8221;text-uppercase&#8221;][vc_column_text]\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Here are some tips on how to get relief from minor hip pain.<\/p>\r\n<ul class=\"listPara\">\r\n<li><a href=\"\/en\/pc\/shoe-inserts\/\">Add orthotic inserts or insoles<\/a>\u00a0designed to help absorb the shock of moving around.<\/li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p class=\"head2\">REMEMBER REST-ICE-ELEVATION:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li><strong>Rest<\/strong> \u2013 give your hips a break and time to heal, either by reducing your activity or avoiding movement altogether for a time<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Ice<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 keep an ice pack on for 20 minutes at a time every 3 or 4 hours for up to 3 days until the pain is gone<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Elevation<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 prop up your hips on a pillow while you\u2019re resting to further lighten the load<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<li>And when you do get back to being active, remember to ease your body into things, being careful to stretch and strengthen as your hips warm up<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p class=\"legal-text legal-text-first\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Not a medical diagnosis.
